ABOUT AVI
Introduction

Assumption Vocational Institute (AVI) is a Catholic Institution and is part of Boys' Town Community comprising:

Assumption English School
Assumption Vocational Institute
Boys' Town Home
Boys' Town Alumni

The Institute conducts vocational education and training courses for early school leavers to prepare them for work.

The Institute is supervised by the Brothers of St Gabriel, an order of Catholic Teaching Brothers founded by St Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort.

The Institute first started as St. Joseph's Trade School in the current compound of Boys' Town and when the entire Trade School was replaced by a new building in 1971, it was renamed as Boys' Town Vocational Institute.

The Institute was renamed Assumption Vocational Institute on 1 April 1994, in honour of the patroness of the Brothers of St Gabriel (Our Lady of the Assumption) to better reflect the inclusion of girls in their institution.
